Questions about fuels for cooking kit

Folks - Just two separate questions about fuels for cooking in event of electricity outage. Nice weather right now and time to plan ahead for next storm.

    A. I have two(?) camping gas type burners and several 190gm blue butane cylinders. What sort of use can I expect to get from a cylinder - how many litres of water could I boil or how many tins of soup could I heat with one cylinder?

    B. Our main domestic heating is by kerosine oil. We are likely to have many litres of it in tank if we loose electricity for cooking. Can kerosine be used in a Primus type stove? If so, I would renovate the Primus stove and buy a bottle of methylated spirit to get it started.

    Thanks.

I think, what you need is this: https://mercatorgear.com/gas-canister-calculator/?srsltid=AfmBOopTNocDDWZIN7pBm6ZnHVsgPMT4zyJFSLd3wXl7712XEMs3opzt

I put in 2 people, for 5 days requiring 3 litres of boiling water per person per day, and it returned 240grams of gas.

You can use petroleum jelly instead of meths to prime the paraffin stonve's vaporiser if you are stuck.

Well done, men - thank you.

I have probably enough gas cylinders to last us for a bit more than 5 days.

Thankfully, the power remained on here (Bangor) during the last two severe storms. Others were less fortunate.

I still have not located the Primus stove in the garage.

Next will be fitting a better exhaust/silencing system on the small generator. Looking at a scrapped motorcycle part.

Do you have a gas BBQ, you can use that after the storm to cook most things. Haven't tried to boil water on one but I'm sure it's possible
