Saw the trailer yesterday, actually looks quite good. Thought Angel Studios did a great job with "King of Kings". Will definitely keep this in mind for Christmas.

I actually thought Sound of Freedom was a pretty decent movie and all the talk online of its success being down to religious conservatives and audience manipulation was totally nonsensical.

Yes, there was definitely a faint whiff off religion off it, but nothing too on the nose compared to what I expected based on the discourse online - just a decent movie all around.

I will definitely be checking this out. The director's (and studios) previous movies are Sound of Freedom and Carbini, both solid movies if given a chance.

the movie was fine, thoroughly average with some awful dialogue and very ropey production at times, and quite dogwhistley, but fine.

Its success undeniably benefited from the culture war rubbish though. I mean, it wouldn’t have even been heard of beyond minor distribution if not for very intentionally making themselves a cultural lightning rod. And they literally had a ‘Pay it forward’ strategy where US theatrical screenings had a video of Jim himself on screen during the credits with a QR code and a plea for people to buy out more tickets to ‘spread the message’.
