Is Resident Evil 4 remake really that good?

I've played a little of the "Chainsaw demo".

Graphics of camera panning is somewhat of a pain in the head (literally, it gives me a headache).

Viewing or turning around etc is much slower than the original.

Beyond that it seems like a "remaster", step up in graphic quality but ultimately the same game, with more awkward controls.

    Does it get better?

its not the step up 2 or 3 remake where to the originals tbh and some of the design choices remove the farcical nature of the original which is what makes the story so good.

That being said its still a great game and worth giving a bash.

Remakes of 1 and 2 were phenomenal.

I didn't actually know there was a RE3 remake, the original RE 3 was horrid.

So……… is RE 3 remake good also?

Just to save me starting another thread.

It's nice and short doesn't over stay it's welcome and plays like 2. They did ruin the nemesis bits and toned down the puzzles. Worth picking up on the cheap.

Like most modern day remakes, RE4 remake is a good game but not as good as the original.

Functionally it plays well, looks good (although not as good as the original) and is a fun time.

Also like most remakes they added padding so the pacing is worse but it’s still pretty replayable. They toned down the goofiness which was part of the magic of the original too.

Really good breakdown (ignoring hyperbolic thumbnail) of the game here and the wider topic of remakes in general.

It's good, but the weakest of the three recent remakes (2, 3 & 4). Plays like 2 but with more action and setpieces, it's more linear, fewer puzzles and a lot shorter with less replayability.

It's worth playing if you're planning on playing the others, but it's definitely the weakest.

Yes, the remake is good, but it clearly lacks that special atmosphere that the original had (for me personally) Like the Resident Evil 4 Remake, a new platform or API provider might look slick, run smooth, and deliver functional upgrades... But let’s be honest — not all of them capture the magic of the original. Betbazar believes that seamless integration isn’t just about features or speed — it’s about keeping the soul of a great product intact.
Its curated API solutions don’t just repackage the past — they enhance it without losing what made it special.

I like the 4 remake. It's not as good as the original but I think it's like the GameCube RE1 remake, it's different enough that it doesn't negate the original so you end up with two great games worth playing.

I still think the best way to play RE4 is the VR version on the meta quest. Brilliant stuff

I checked out the RE 3 remake demo.

    It looked pretty damn good.

    Playing RE4 remake.

The original was good but this takes it to another level.

Enjoyed all the remakes. I never played the original RE4 so was an entirely new experience but it’s definitely worth the hype

The Separate Ways subgame is much more expansive than what I remember in the original RE4?

Designers did a cracker-jack job on Ada.

I'm hoping that "survivor" mode unlocks after this completes.

Separate ways is fantastic. I remember being disappointed with a few missing set pieces in the base game but they hit all the ones I wanted in separate ways.

    Just finished the Ada playthrough.

God the designers turned her into an unbelievable babe.

But I can't seem to find "mercenaries" mode, does that typically unlock after completing the game on "standard"?

Also the story left a few loose ends, who was under that sheet in Wesker's laboratory, and Ada is working against Wesker now?

It didn't. Resi 5 is clearly the next installment in the remake series. It's a pretty easy guess as to who's under the sheet.
