Do you persevere or concede defeat on them?

My example would be “Boy’s from the better land” by D.C. Fontaines. I really like that song. It is catchy has punch. Great song. It worked brilliantly.

But although I have tried listening to other stuff from them. Even latest stuff, I just don’t like them for various reasons droning stuff, half talking. Nope don’t like it.

For the life of me I can’t explain how the same band produced a song I really like. Yet when I hear their other stuff I think - “nope”. Isn’t a band supposed to get better not worse? Should I give up on a band that I only like one song they did in their first album?

What is the music listening “strategy” here? Preserve- “Just in case” or leave it be?

I suppose it is the equivalent of people not liking Thin Lizzy. But love “Whisky in the Jar”.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I've bought albums based on hearing one track and sometimes you are pleasantly surprised, sometimes disappointed. If none of the other songs have wormed their way into my brain after 5-10 listens then it's just one of those cases of add that 1 song to a playlist and dump the rest.

If a few songs make it to a permanent playlist it's time to check the rest of the bands catalogue.

2 songs by My Morning Jacket… Aluminum Park and I Will be There When you Die are stone cold brilliant, love both but I struggle with the rest of their stuff.. dunno why just a bit bland and indie rock by numbers....
