Anyone ever attempt bringing old VW beetles or vans from Nigeria? I've a friend over there that says there's lots of beetles around for cheap there. He could stick a few beetles in a container and ship them. Wonder what customs would be like?

    Don't do it, it's a scam.

The best way to ensure a smooth transaction if the outlay was say 20k, is to pay 100k cash and get 80k back from the seller.

I've been trying to import my inheritance from Nigeria for years now. If you have any luck let me know, maybe then could put it in your car.

Well yeah, it's Nigeria, alarm bells everywhere. But my Nigerian friend he's moving back to Lagos and bringing containers of machinery. So he's looking for something coming the other way. Lots of vehicles over there, that are not rotting he said. Hed be bringing them over not me. I'll be grand!

If theres no risk on the importation then go for it , I assume the labour over there is far cheaper, but you'd need your friend involved - culturally they have a very different business mind sett,

I remember someone Moroccan living here who wouldn't buy direct from Morocco , because if youre not there to physically check every level of packing and dispatch ,then you don't" Care " about being ripped off and kind of deserve it .. even if you have a local agent - you'd still need to be careful..

Should be exempt from duty if they are vintage, and €200 VRT

VW beetles not that common anymore, only the ones with black hairy legs.Plenty of Peugeot there and built like tanks compared to the crap here.A ten foot pothole is nothing to them.

Go for it.Ask them to include the engine with the Beetles.

Peugeot would def be my choice in Nigeria.
