I'm a bit torn on it.

On the one hand, I'd have no interest in watching any of it.

On the other hand, if some people do want to play these games..…then leave them off. As long as it pays for itself(?) then why not. Presumably it would only be players whose club are already knocked out of the club championships.

Good chat here about the AFL expansion plans. Hopefully the GAA are aware the ladies game are going to lose more and more players

Personally I think it's a waste of time. But I suppose from the players point of view it's a trip away and a bit of a pi*s up.

I've no problem with it but it's clear from the video the AFL are using this to move onto full international games of Aussie rules between the Irish and Australian girls. If you start having international games of Aussie rules the ladies game here will end up being a academy for Australia. With the GAA bringing the lgfa into the organisation at a huge financial loss, it may not be a wise decision to get involved in something that will lead to losing your best players. Fair play to the gaa putting the players ahead of the game but at least they should let the public know what the AFL are hoping to get out of this. Don't think any gaa journalist has even touched on the issue they are as bad as the rugby and political journalists in the country.

I only watched bits of the ladies AFL on TG4 curiosity to see if I recognise the Irish names But given how little profile the LGFA players get it is likely anyone half decent will have a cut at AFL

Men’s game from memory very few from Ireland make the grade and stay with AFL. High profile men’s players less likely to leave if their “celebrity” here gives them perks.

However, during Covid lockdown 2020 it was a real eye opener for me how a few AFL exiles forced to stay in Ireland changed the dynamic of a team/competition.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

AFL are planning on having a international Aussie rules game between Ireland and Australia ladies in march every year in Australia. It will be held alongside a new state competition similar to state of origin rugby league. Will be interesting to see how the Irish girls get on
