Starting a new job in the public sector tomorrow, do I need to be clean shaven?

I'm definitely over thinking this but I'm starting an office job in the public sector tomorrow. I usually have a beard but I shaved it down to a big stubble today. It is tidy but I'm wondering if clean shaven would be the way to go for my first day.

You're fine, anything vaguely neat and clean is fine.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

Shave for now and you can start growing the beard again once you have your feet under the table.

No need to shave once it looks work appropriate. I have a beard from day one without issue or even mention. Presume they interviewed you with a beard.

    Stay as you are.
Just be clean, smart casual and brush your teeth!

    First impressions count.
