Measured building survey - variations, recommendations

After dragging the feet for a few years, I want to get moving on an extesnion. I spoke to an arhitect last year and they said the first thing needed is a survey for her to build her drawings off. I've a couple of questions on that:

For a bog standard 30 sqm single story extension on a vectorian house, should the survey be just of the building, or does it have to include the garden? If the garden is included, is that a topological survey as well, or would the garden be included in a standard measured building survey?

And does anyone have any recommendations either here or as a DM? North Dublin Area. Just off the N11/R135.

    Mick
