I’ve tried several times to watch the TG4 player and it never works. When you try to watch the livestream it doesn’t work. A notification comes on saying ‘It looks like you have having playback issues, try reloading the page’. You reload the page and the message keeps coming up. Sometimes Euronews starts playing when you press play. After about 20 attempts at reloading the page and pressing play it will then work for a minute or two and then freeze. I thought the RTE Player was bad but this takes the piss. I’ve tried changing web browser but same crap. Very frustrating when trying to watch a match.

I've the TG4 Player app on my Firestick and it's perfect both for live and catching up on shows, could be worth trying that or Chromecast version.

I've never had problems with it. I've used the app on an LG TV and I've streamed it from phone via Chromecast.

It’s a darn sight better than the RTE Player. Not perfect I’ll grant you - sometimes the picture drops to a slide related to the programme. But it has features like live restart and the plus 1 (and plus 2!) channels, less of the hated pre roll adverts, and a much better interface than the quite frankly creaking RTE Player.

Tried to get a recent hurling match on it on my laptop and got nowhere, but the app worked perfectly on my phone the same evening. As with most things (including this very platform) it depends on the level of demand.

It's also a phenomenal resource for films, documentaries, TV series, etc, and should be lauded most highly for making some real gems available to a very wide audience.
