Hey wondering if anyone can provide any advice / input - I went for an interview for a EO public service role on 7th March. I did blank through the interview so I don’t think it went that well but nevertheless the panel said I should hear by the end of the following week which would have been 14th March.

I haven’t heard anything either way and I followed up a couple of days ago and haven’t had a response. Was I that bad that they feel like they don’t need to tell me I didn’t make the panel? I thought with public service they have to let you know either way

Anything to do with civil or public service interviews requires great patience.

yeah true but I thought since they gave me the deadline I would hear by then. I’ve gone for a couple of Eo other roles and have always heard back by the following week!

They can be slow, very slow. No harm in following up.

update: I came 6th on the panel where 4 roles were available. Does this sound like a generic response they would have sent everyone on the panel:

A panel for the position has been established and I am delighted to confirm that you have been placed Number 6 on the panel.

You will be appointed if an Executive Office position becomes available.

Congratulations on your success. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I feel like this sounds like they think I will get a job or am I delusional? My other rejections have been much more direct like if a job comes up we will be in contact with you.

If 2 people ahead of you turn down a job you should receive an offer.

You've a good chance of being offered a job.
