Hi , I recieved a payment on 10 thousand pound from a friend in UK basically as a gift to pay a few bills and get a new car.

I.m on Dissability Allowance for around 6 years or more , As I didn't have much money in my account before I recieved the 10 k and as I.m well below the savings allowed while on DA , should I contact DA and tell them about the money ? I looked up on citizens advise and it said I.m under the limit of savings . If anyone could help me I'd be grateful thanks

think the limit could be 20k, so no need to be informing anyone, dont think id be informing anyone no matter what the limits are anyway!

    best of luck with things

You do need to pay tax on a gift of more than 3k per year, though. Check with revenue what's due

Only if they have used up their lifetime Group C CAT allowance already.
