    Morning all.

My wife is dog sitting for a friend and is sitting in a freezing cold house with no heating or hot water. I went up last night and discovered the boiler was locked out and not firing. This is the problem.

It is not very old - about a year I think. It is a Firebird Envirogreen condensing in an outhouse. The burner is an Elco FB2 KLN. It is a bank holiday of course!! I checked the water pressure and it was low around 0.1 bar so I filled the loop up to 1.5 bar. I checked the high limit stat on the thermostat but it was OK. Still no firing. The burner fan starts for 20 seconds but no ignition. We have oil in the tank. We have power to the boiler. I am familiar with my old firebird Riello 40 burner but not this condensing unit so hoping for some instruction to check this out. I understand an allen key is about the only tool you need??

I want to check the basics ie. oil in the pump - bleed screw? Check for any water etc.

Check oil actually getting to pump. There is a fire valve and a thermostat valve on the incoming line.

    Check power to the controller.

    Check condition of burner electrodes

Check flame detection (but there is no flame)

I know the burners are now made in China and my fairly new controller on my Riello failed last year. Simply replacing this got my boiler working so I suspect the controller as it is a new boiler.

Any advice to check out the obvious would be appreciated as she is stuck ther for 2 weeks!

    Cheers
