How to change a 308 to 6.5creemore

Hi lads,

Im looking to change calibers on a 308 rifle to 6.5 creedmore. How is this controlled on the licence? Do you wait until the renewal date update the caliber and surrender to gunsmith when new licence comes?

Any help is greatly apprecaited

You cannot update the caliber on a renewal, you need to do a substitution.

You'd likely have to store it with the dealer doing the conversion, do a substitution changing the caliber, then collect the converted rifle sans the 308 barrel which you'd no longer be licensed to have.

Substituted my gun last year, local Garda that looked after it told me they will not do a substitution within six months of your renewal.

Sometimes they just make stuff up. I substituted mine within 1 month of renewal. In fact when I initially discussed it they asked me to hold off until just after after the renewal.
