Duck eggs?

Are they even available in Ireland?

I used to eat these routinely in favour of chicken eggs.

Is there any advantage to that? I believe the yolk is bigger so cholesterol is higher?

I think I ate them cause they tasted better.

Higher yolk to white ratio (don't worry about the cholesterol). Larger. They are still available.

I used to buy them in Turkish stores on the continent.

I've never seem them in supermarkets. Usually artisan foodstores or people selling them directly from their house if you're driving through the countryside.

Supermarkets don't usually stock them as they tend to come from small scale suppliers. F.X. Buckley butchers in Dublin certainly used to do them, not sure they still do. Butchers and 'artisan' food shops may be your best bet in cities. A grocers in smaller towns may have a local farm supplying them. If you're in the country, ask around.

Try the Asian markets or the Irish green grousers. some of them do eggs, raw cream, raw milk, and other 'real' foods. Also ask your local butchers. They do eggs.

They're white, they can also be blue, green, slightly pink and sometimes a slightly grey tinge as well

A friend of my wife's gave her half a dozen, Indian Runner & Muscovy eggs : delicious, boiled for 6 minutes with good whole grain bread, makes a lovely breakfast. Tempted to get a couple ducks ourselves.
