Work cert and depression

Hi I have been on carers leave from work for a few months to care for an elderly parent

Over the Christmas things began to get on top of me and I started to get a bit depressed.

I have had depression in the past but lately it's been getting worse. Was due to return to work a few weeks ago but couldn't face into it .

Went to my GP and explained my situation but he didn't show much empathy. I said I needed some time off work and needed a cert for work.

I asked if he could just put illness down on the cert but he insisted I had to put depression down on it as I work for a government department.

Was shocked at how he handled the situation .

    Should I change GP?
