Probably cheaper to buy a new one

contact garmin, although you are out of warranty, they could take it back and send you out a refurb at a cost. Could be a cheaper option

Contact Garmin. Their customer service in my experience is an example to almost so others. While it's unlikely they'll give you a replacement for damage through use, they may offer a repair at a reasonable rate. It might not be worth it in the end as the 45 is entry level if memory serves, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
