it’s now been 1.5 months since the storm and the amount of telephone cable that still lies down across the west is not only shameful but very dangerous . On some side roads the cable is still across the roads.
I could post pictures but there could be hundreds of those to show on my travels .

thankfully I am not a fixed line telephone or broadband user but I’m sure there are people who are .
We were notified of NBI rollout for end of 2025 but looking at the capabilities to repair existing customers I think this is a lost cause .

im posting as it should be a dail issue and priority given to repairing the lines akin to the esb did after the storm .

what are people doing who are effected ?

    …still in the news.

COMREG should answer questions about the 'shambolic' situation with continuing outages in the eir service in Mayo.

Elderly people are living in fear as they have no means of communication as phone lines remain down following winter storms, Councillor Adrian Forkan told a meeting of Mayo County Council.

“This is shambolic,” he declared, asking has eir got the capacity to fix the network and replace poles and wires.

Councillor Forkan told his elected colleagues it was time they called on ComReg to come into the chamber and answer some questions.

…and so on.. (Cloonfad, Ballymoe, Creggs)

Eircom have told Government that everything under their control will be fixed by June 3rd, says Tánaiste Simon Harris

Eir has informed the telecommunications regulator, ComReg, that all storm-related repairs for the remaining affected customers will be completed by 3 June, next week. This excludes 11 cases where there is a third-party constraint like access rights outside of Eir's control. Eir has told the Government that everything within its control will be completed by 3 June.

    Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice isn't convinced.

The photo I sent was taken this morning. If all the infrastructure will be in place by 3 June, with Monday a bank holiday, I would be amazed. I hope the Tánaiste is right and that what Eir told the Government is correct but I do not think it will come true.
