Hi all, I’ve been teaching since 2011 and see that in 2014 teachers had an option to opt out of S+S and that was then again offered to teachers with 15 years service in 2017. Is there any option to opt out of substitution and supervision for a teacher in my case?

Nope ,as far as I know.Anyway 'opting out' means paying 1800/900 gross /net .One of the many big 'wins' achieved by our unions back in the day along with multiple tier payscales /halved sick leave and /doubled pension contribution (for a 'halved' pension) etc etc

I doubt that option will ever come back. Schools would really struggle to function. Everyone I know would opt out. The unions have tried a few times. Even to have a thing where you could opt out one year if you had a lot going on at home, and opt in again later. They've had no luck yet.
