There's always Viber as a replacement.

I call my 96 Y/O father in UK on his Landline on Skype to his Landline Phone - am not going to be able to do that that from TEAMS when SKYPE goes in May … then what? - any good subsitute that the way SKYPE to Landline works at the moment?

Jaysus call quality must be muck over land line, if he has broadband get him a VoIP phone, else leave mobile there and Whatsapp it, call quality is so good you can figure out where others are in the room

skype to landline very good on the whole , I can pick out on 1 hand over the years where I have voice called his landline and there might have been an echo and heard myself come back through the earpiece .

i might try Viber out if people think its good

I have been using WhatsApp in similar circumstances but this evening we were both getting echoes so decided to try and use Skype for a last time. The quality was appalling, maybe they are not servicing it but it was rubbish and took several goes to get a useable line, and even then it dropped a couple of times. WhatsApp tends to be a little bit dodgy sometimes, mostly echo, but I think we will go back to it.

Might try Viber. I did look at Teams which is what Skype are pushing but not convinced, maybe that's just me getting less tech wise, and my sister is worse than me so it might be easier to stick with WhatsApp.

I have been using Viber out for landline calls and mobile calls since the storm because after 5 weeks with the landline still down I cancelled it and find Viber so far has been good for landline calls but on mobile calls it was showing my number as foreign from all sorts of countries and people wouldn't answer me thinking it was a scam call.

I was onto C/S but never resolved it but still use it for landlines because where I live is a mobile black spot so need it. For €6.99 a month for a Worldwide Package it's worth it IMO. I just message people I need to talk to in advance on mobiles so they know it's me and not a scammer in Latvia!

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

If you have a Gmail account, you could look at Meet. I use it extensively from a Google Workspace account, but the free service should be good enough, where a 1-2-1 call can last 24 hours or 60 minutes for group calls.
