How to seal this gap, porch canopy.

during the crap weather recently I noticed I had a damp patch inside top of the door, I’ve checked all the sealant around the door and didn’t see any gaps.

I moved the front door out the front of the old porch a few years ago, it’s the first time I’ve noticed damp like this.

well I have fitted one of those cheap porch canopies.

I now have a gap, didn’t really want to go grinding or anything to make it flush, I presume it will help a little as is but I imagine water will just run down anyway.

So anybody any ideas how to fill this gap?

Was thinking of trying some of that Bostik flash band?

I'd do it with a flashband or a piece of lead. The dash needs to be removed in that small section just above where the poly roof meets it though, won't seal otherwise.

Ideally run two horizontal cuts about 1.5cms deep and ~6cms apart using an angle-grinder and chisel out the dash back to the block. Then clean it out with a wire brush until it's clean/solid and wash out. Then fit the flashband or lead when dry. If using the flashband then finish off the joint at the top with a sealant so that it's weathertight. If using lead then fit the lead sheeting using skirted screws or wide washers with around 7cms of lead above the screws, then lap the lead down over the screws to finish it off and hide the screws. Then seal against the dash using sealant.

Others might suggest to do less grinding and just adhere the flashband to a somewhat less well prepped surface, but it needs to be flattened somewhat.

I’ll have a look at it in better detail next week, I’m thinking I can chip away the spikey bits with a chisel and hammer, ( we will see after a test on another piece ) , smooth it out best I can and see what I end up with.
