Whatsapp voice not working on iPhone 8 Plus

    I am not an iPhone user but trying to help friend with problem on iPhone 8 Plus IOS 16 running WhatsApp. WhatsApp is running fine other than voice in and out stopped working during a video call a while ago (was working fine). Interestingly the same applies to Facetime. Normal phone calls are working fine which suggests that the mic and speaker are OK. I have checked the normal things like mic permissions in the apps and all seems ok but stuck after that. WhatsApp still supports the iPhone 8 Plus as far as I can tell.

    I use Boards in other areas and, wanting to get it working again with travel approaching, wondered if anyone here has come across this or has any ideas how to fix it as nobody I have spoken to has yet come up with a solution. Thanks in adavnce and for reading this.
