Upgrading a PC, worth it?

Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice. My son got a PC a few years ago and it looking to upgrade it. PC would be relatively weak now. Just wondering if it is worth upgrading or should he just start from scratch. The specs are in the below. I wouldn't need anything cutting edge just an improvement over what he has.

What games he playing, another 8GB of ram is a defenitive anyway and only around 30 quid at most. That should see a significant improvement 16GB is the standard these days.

Someone here should recommend a compatible part

Thanks. I actually did put an additional 8Gb in a few years back. He wants to upgrade the CPU and GPU (don't ask me why). he only really plays Fortnite to be honest. I think the issue is he just made his confirmation and has some money to spare!

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 / 5600X : Decently cheap upgrade (130eur). Would remove some stutter in games.

GPU: Much more important upgrade. To get a meaningful increase in performance, you'd want Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB / AMD RX 6600 / 6650 XT / 7600 . The price difference between 6600 (220eur) & 7600 (255eur) is so small it makes more sense to save up/go for that right away (if funds allow).

If you don't want to use Adverts.ie to sell the GPU, he can still get 79eur cash for the GTX 1660 from CEX.

Thanks all. He's thinking of a RTX 4060 but I see that has a recommended power supply of 550w and he has 500w. Is that a big deal?

It's fine; RTX 4060 uses maybe 10W more than the GTX 1660.
