Thankfully the laws are being enforced. I understand this might be frustrating to climate change deniers! But we have a vast community that is growing of people who are advocating for climate justice and change. As we are in a climate crisis we all have a part to play in promoting environmental protection planting trees protecting wildlife woodlands etc! We are blessed to live in a country where the rule of law is upheld

    MOD

Your original post included - "you can move the legitimate comments about the trees to a different section but the law is the law!"

In that sprit please read the forum charter.

in 2025 have we as a nation learned from the Mahon Tribunal has the rule of law and planning fraud been fully stopped.

Moreover do we need another Tribunal for 2030. Some of the evidence currently is very concerning

Just across from the Army Barracks in Athlone are very mature trees 🌲 that have been maintained and preserved very well. We must ensure their survival into the future as Athlone becomes a City we need all the trees we can get for air quality etc

What are you talking about? What evidence are you referring to? And on what grounds would you want another tribunal?

You can check the local development plan to see if they are protected under it.

The nature is an essential ally in the fight against climate change. Our natural ecosystems – such as forests, oceans, wetlands, and peatlands – act as the Earth's carbon sinks, absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and keeping it safely stored. In our local areas we must work to preserve nature and to ensure all aspects of nature are secure. The wildlife and trees are an integral part of our lives and the fight against climate change.

In terms of climate change we must consider many aspects of our future. Urban sprawl in particular will cause an increase in transport related consumption due to people needing to travel increased distances from towns and city's to more urban areas. This leads to an increased emission of CO2 into the atmosphere.

This could be an interesting discussion but the waffle, lack of specifics and overwhelming number of repetitive posts from one poster is making it impossible to come to any conclusions or establish any clarity about the situation. Forgive me heratage11 if I cannot believe that your 'job is to insure all wildlife and trees are protected across Ireland', however if you could post about specifics, actual regulations/laws that you claim exist it would be very helpful.

    Current regs are here https://crann.ie/trees/legislation/#:~:text=Procedure%20to%20follow%20when%20felling%20trees&text=Under%20this%20act%20it%20is,Notice%20available%20from%20Garda%20station.

Most of us are very familiar with all of them and who is responsible for them; they are no-where near as sweeping or draconian as the scenarios you are suggesting. If you have information about other regs - not EU plans and recommendations, no-one will be taken to court on the basis of an EU recommendation - please share them.

I think that in general pretty much all the people in this discussion are keen to support ecological endeavours and preserve trees.

@heratage11 You had a different view hours before. This does not suggest honest thoughtful discussion.

MOD Trees are important, your grandstanding isn't. Please improve your posts, include relevant links, and no new threads.

It’s fairly obvious from the OP’s posts and use of Google Street View that he is just playing at keyboard eco-warrior. When’s the last time you were actually in Athlone OP?

If the OP is that worried about the environment and trees, he should be lying in front of the trucks bringing south American timber to the power station in Edenderry

There’s a few of them but he’s one of the worst.
