Issue with AES/Bord na Mona

Basically they collected everyone's green bin except for ours. I logged a couple of complaints over the weekend and Monday someone finally got back to me the Tuesday.

They acknowledged their mistake and said "unfortunately there's no trucks in the area until the normal next collection date"

Their attitude has infuriated me. So far I've threatened to recall a €29 direct debit to cover €14 (equivalent charge for 1 lift) and a guess at roughly €15 trip to the dump.

There's also the issue that I'm not putting rubbish bags into my car and I dont have a towbar so I'd have to borrow or hire a car and trailer to do this.

We Are in a rural area so leaving bags of rubbish around for a fortnight isn't an option, I don't want every rat, mouse and bird in the area feasting in my garden or shed. I also don't want a mountain of sh!tty nappies my 2 Yr old manufactures lying around. The bin is still roadside overfull so the lid is blown open, I am not being held responsible for birds tearing open bags and creating litter, and I am also not wheeling a bin full of rubbish back into my yard because of BNMs mistake.

Their attitude has disgusted me and u really want to create as much hassle as possible for them.

So far I've threatened the DD recall. I've even considered the hiring car and trailer I mentioned and bringing them to the small claims to get the money back for that.

Interested to hear of anyone's else thoughts, or anyone with a similar experience with this crowd

Recall the DD all you want but it won't make you not owe it to them, none of your bins will be emptied then as the account will be in arrears. Also the claim of a €14 charge for 1 bin lift is a little dramatic. From memory it's about €9 at most for a lift unless your bin is always way overweight.

You won't have any claim in the small claims court to recover the cost of hiring a car or trailer. I'd suggest asking them to send a rep/fella that delivers bins to swap you bin with a new one. If no joy with the person on the phone ask for a manager to call you back.

€14 is not dramatic. €348 a year for 26 lifts. I don't expect to be charged for blue bin.

Got it sorted anyway, kick up a big enough fuss and you get results.

They don't only charge for the waste bin so yes it is. If you are paying €348 you are missing a trick too. Ring them up and say you got an offer lower elsewhere and they will match it
