Hello my baby half lab and half rottie 1.5 years was diagnosed this week with kidney damage, over 75% nonfunctional and getting a scan on FRiday to see what is going on. Has anyone else gone through this. We are naturally devastated as he is a great wee boy.

turns out that he had a bad infection when he was a week or 2 old or was born this way, fantastic vet has prescribed blood pressure medication and kidney diet to buy us more time. FYI our pup was from a pound.

That's so upsetting msmandy. What's the prognosis now with the meds and kidney diet... do you know?

He sounds like a lovely and much loved dog 😊

Well they said these dogs dont live very long but he is just the same as he always is, impish and looking for treats. He started on his blood pressure medication as well. Might need some myself!

My girl was like this - she seemed perfectly fine and it was just a few subtle signs I was seeing that made me take her for a checkup. My vet warned me that it wasn’t normal and she could go downhill quickly and this is what happened :( I got very hung up/stressed out about what she was eating, what was allowed/not allowed and in hindsight I wish I would have let her have her favourite treats etc and eat whatever she wanted.
