Nurofen - How long can you take for?

So I have bursitis in my ankle from an impact injury, when I take nurofen plus the pain goes away.

I know the leaflets and guidelines say not to take for more than 3 days, but when I asked the pharmacy assistant she said they can be taken ongoing.

I wasn’t too convinced and am just checking if anyone has advice on longer term ibuprofen?

    Thanks

If the plus is the one with codeine be very cautious, it can hook some people very quietly, if it's not I think still consult another pharmacist or better again GP (I know, cost and availability are big issues)

    The leaflet explicitly states:

If you need to use this medicine continuously for more than 3 days, see your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine contains codeine which can cause addiction if you take it continuously for more than 3 days. If you take this medicine for headaches for more than 3 days it can make them worse.

Do you really think that the pharmacy assistant would know more about the dosage limits than the manufacturer?

Pharmacy assistant told you codeine could be taken ongoing?

    She needs a talking to

Talk to your GP about stronger but less addictive painkillers

What kind of course do Pharmacy Assistants take? Most of them haven't a clue.

They do give you a grilling if you want to buy any codeine based products though. That's drilled into them. I wouldn't be asking any advice off them.
