Has anyone here installed anything similar? I usually stay well clear of plumbing and electricity so not sure if I should attempt it or not!

Do you really need laboratory grade purity..can you afford the filters every week.. can you wait 4 mins for a glass of water..

Sorry if im a bit sceptical, I think most people who buy things like these dump them after a few months.

I've used britta filters and jug combo for the last 4 years.

Why would people dump them after a few months?

Costs about €100 a year in filters.

IW sucks. Our water stinks of Chlorine (worse after rain as it gets an extra dose of Chlorine because the river water is dirtier) tastes foul and is full of microscopic physical contaminates - yet its fit to drink.

Cartridge replacement schedule:

Pre-filtration cartridges: every 3 months

Ecosoft 50 GPD reverse osmosis membrane: once a year

Mineralizing  or carbon postfilter: every 6 months

Not that often.

Drilling a ceramic basin to mount the tap is the tricky bit….in the unlikely event that you a one ! Best mount it on a standard work top if possible, over sink obviously - easier to drill thru.

Don't forget to turn off the water first😊

I have something similar for the last 3/4 years. 5 stage pumped system. I didn't use the tap that comes with it. I bought a new dual tap for the sink & connected the filtered water through it.

All very easy to do.

Water2buy is what I got, through amazon. Filters changed 1 a Yr & ro filter every 2 yrs. The pumped system produces water a lot faster than without the pump.

I went ahead and ordered this..

I think I messed up though by not going for the one that has a pump. My water pressure is fine but I don't think it's at the 3-6 bar level that's recommended for the non pump unit. Any way I can tell what my water pressure in bars?

3 Bars of pressure is the pressure you get at the bottom of a 100ft high column of water. So if your mains water can push water up 100ft or more then you are OK.

If you have an outside tap or one with a screw thread this will tell you

Measure how long it takes to fill a 1L jug or saucepan.

10L minute is 1 bar. Most mains water in Ireland is 1bar or lower.

I'm not sure. The pictures of the unit with the pump on the website look like it's integrated into it

You need to know what the cost of materials is before you can come to any conclusions. Its quite possible to spend over €500 on a bells and whistles filter unit or get a cheap one for under €200.

What's the pressure like out of it?

We have a boiling water tap and the plumber said he couldn't link it to the RO system as the water pressure from an RO system is too low.

the water pressure in an RO system comes from the tank that comes with the unit as far as i know. The filtered water comes out of the little faucet would be slow enough. Fill a 250ml glass in 4 or 5 seconds maybe
