Breed specific legislation, BSL, way to go, or forget about it?

As title says, I would love to know what people think about BSL. Is that the way to go, or it's just making things worse for people and canines. Would better education, better understanding of canines you own help to prevent dog bites? Or bans are the way?

UK implemented ban on certain breeds, and bite incidents rose over the years, significantly. So obviously there's something wrong in that approach. Ireland has it's own restricted breed list and proceeding with first ban on XL bully breed.

BSL is being questioned by vets for a long time, being questioned by dog owners and by dogs being needlessly to put to sleep regardless of their character.

My personal view of things is weighed towards to side that some humans exploit canines in the most heinous ways, and those individuals actions affect perfectly healthy dogs and owners.
