it's okay when listening to podcasts but if I use the RTE media app or BBC Sounds app - I get about 10 seconds of playing and then the radio pauses (only on headphones)

I've done everything like reboot the phone and update all the apps. Its a brand-new phone - less than a week old.

this is only happening with headphones

Samsung buds pro, buds2 & JBL

    Any ideas? Anyone?

I've an 8 and there's a minor software update available (dunno if it's Bluetooth specific, I've not updated yet). Check yours. Have you tried unpairing and repairing?

I had something similar on a Poco phone before with an android head unit. After ten seconds the audio would just pause. Restarting the phone usually resolved it.

i was monitoring this and it seems to be when the screen goes black the phone must think it's off. That's when the audio stops.

I'm sure there is a setting or on off option for this- just not sure where to look in settings

Sounds like a permission s issue that isn't allowing the app to operate in the background. Try turning this setting on.

    Settings>>Apps>>apps battery usage>>allow background usage.

If it's not laid out like that then long press the specific app >>app info>> app battery usage
