Can't type random keys on Notepad app

So as above, certain keys won't respond when I use this app. Sometimes it seems to be worse than others. Sometimes it's as much as 1 in 10 characters typed will not show up. It won't be any one particular key that doesn't respond… it's random as far as I can tell so far. And yes it's only on this app and nothing else such…

So as above, certain keys won't respond when I use this app. Sometimes it seems to be worse than others. Sometimes it's as much as 1 in 10 characters typed will not show up. It won't be any one particular key that doesn't respond… it's random as far as I can tell so far. And yes it's only on this app and nothing else such as Word, etc. I'd love to know the reason for it. Upon googling it I couldn't find anyone with the exact problem.
I'm also wondering is there a way that I can set up this app so that it always opens documents in such a way that the word isn't wrapped? At the moment I have to select 'view' and then untick 'wrap word' every time. Using Dell Latitude.
