Glasses closer to one eye than the other

    Hi all,

I've been here for over 15 years and just found this forum!

Basically, I bought some glasses from Vision Express in October that I returned because they sat closer to one eye than the other. It created a weird tingling sensation and they didn't seem able to adjust them. In fairness, they look straight on a table.

I've bought a pair from Specsavers along with sunglasses. The sunglasses have the same problem. Is it reasonable for me to expect an optician to be able to fix this or am I likely to have to return them? It's exasperating to have to keep dealing with this.

Anyway, I just thought I'd ask.

Specsavers should be able to adjust them, they can heat the arms and bend them or twiddle with the hinges (technical term).

Hard, if not impossible, to do if you're not physically present - but if you go into SS they should be able to adjust to your head.

I've no problem going there. It's within walking distance. It's just that the only other time I tried this, in October, the optician did this, failed and then just shrugged at me. Maybe she was a poor optician.

Go to a non chain store optician that's been around for years and ask them to do the adjustment.

Much more experience of dealing with random glasses problems and you've got nothing to lose.

They'll fix them for free or for a few quid, if they can. There is probably a lot of churn and inexperienced opticians in the chain stores. But your milage may vary.

This makes sense. I can't imagine that the chain shops pay all that well but I was within my 100 day grace period so I thought they'd have tried a bit harder to help.

    Thanks for the advice.
