Hotmail/Outlook vanishing emails

Hello All,

I have had a Hotmail/Outlook account for 20 years.
Recently purchased new laptop windows 11.
I created a new folder in my email account to put a few emails in from a new contact. ( done this many times before to keep inbox cleaner} However after I did the 'move to' thing I checked and the mails were not in the folder? I have checked all the other folders/deleted mail etc and they are nowhere to be found. They have completely vanished.

I do have an unpleasant feeling in my gut that this has possibly something to do with this new 'Onedrive' thing which Microsoft keep trying to drag me into at every turn.
