My LOGIC SYSTEM gas boiler is always over 3bar pressure. (Location; 2 Bed apartment)

Any suggestions how to gradually lower this to a more constant 2bar say.

    All sugesstions appreciated, thanks.

Might be an expansion vessel problem.

You can lower it by bleeding a rad, but if problem with above it will just come back up again, or go too low.

You'd be lucky to get 1 bar mains pressure in most of Dublin. 3 bar is a nice problem to have

    Thanks for your comments Guys.

I just thought that having constant high pressure would wear down my Boiler.

    Thanks again.

I don't think Sleeper was referring to your particular boiler pressure.

High pressure like yours needs sorting. It will cause problems sooner or later.

Strictly speaking, the repair of that isn’t covered under a service (to use the strict interpretation of a service), so be sure to mention that you need that particular problem sorted also.

Do you know off hand how much is a standard service these days (excluding extra over costs)

The fill valve is left in the open position. See if you can locate where it is. is there water leaking out the safety valve. if you look outside you will probally see the pipe

My thoughts too about the 3 bar safety valve. Poster did not say if the pressure was hot or cold. 3 bar cold is not normal.

    €80 to 100 for a standard service.

    Thanks for all your comments.

    Replying to other queries above.

Both hot water and heating to all radiators are fine.

Safety valve ok, no hot water dripping from overflow copper pipe on brickwork outside.

However no sign of boiler pressure reducing from current 3.2 Bar (I was told an apartment gas boiler pressure at 1 to 2 Bar is normal)

Also lately, when I turn on the boiler there is a loud whistling noise, I have to adjust the boiler temperature nob slightly up or down to make it stop. Any suggestions on this?

I had similar problem in my apartment. I had boiler installed almost 1.5 years ago and a few months ago I got it serviced (first service). The gas engineer said pressure is showing 3 Bar on the guage so he released a little bit of pressure from magna filter. I recall it was set to 1.5 Bar when boiler was installed.

I was pretty sure that it will be back to 3 Bar and it happend a few days later. There is no way pressure increase in sealed system unless there is leak from higher pressure side. It turn out the valve on the filling loop had small leak and was not closing properly. I replaced filling loop with a new one and now after 2 months it is on 1.5 Bar. Generally apartment blocks have high pressure and likely main water has higher pressure than CH.

Shouldn't the safety valve open at 3bar ?
