    Hi all

I am looking recommendations for a decent coffee machine for the missus. Have been through 3 tassimo at this stage and she would like to go a bit fancier as she loves her coffee. Especially latte and americano

Could people recommend a few machines under 500 euro. I neither drink Tea or coffee so any help would be great.

    Thanks

That really depends… does she want to pressa button to get a coffee, or does she want an involved process to get the best from coffee… If it was the latter, she would probably be on here asking for herself…

I've no real insights into the former, except I used to own a Nespresso machine, which I recently installed in my parents house & can say that the older machines are far superior to the newer models…

Yeah would be a press a button job really i suppose. She's under pressure to get out in the mornings so wouldn't have a lot of time to prepare

Tassimo lover here. But the missus is a coffee snob so won't touch them! She has a little Lavazza machine, but she drinks only americanos.

Your missus also likes lattes so maybe this one may meet her requirements:- https://www.lavazza.co.uk/en/coffee-machines/a-modo-mio-jolie-milk-evo.18001410

why not a bean to cup system, if that's the budget?

i will say, i'm not a fan of nespresso or tassimo (though it's the former i'm more familiar with); they taste unnaturally sweet or milky to me, even though i drink my coffee black.

there's not a huge amount of faff with a bean to cup.

We went from Tassimo to the DeLonghi Nescafé Dolce Gusto Piccolo XS,have it well over a year,no problems, great for latte and americano, great selection of pods too from all the supermarket brands, think we bought it for under 40 euro from Harvey Norman.

Deffo look at bean to cup.

We had a nespresso for years. Started to get sick of it so we got a DeLonghi Magnifico evo.

I like my espresso/americano and she likes her milky coffee. The bean to cup is a big big difference.

Thanks for all the help so far!

Yes I think bean to cup is the way to go! I will have a look at a few

Another bean to cup machine here. I like my coffee and when I retired in 2010 I bought a Delonghi Magnifica S for myself. I have made in excess of 13500 cups of coffee since then. I descale when it warns me to and change the filter and give it a general clean of moving parts. No problems at all.

What’s the quality difference between a Lavazza machine and a Tassimo? I’ve had both and can’t recall any difference. Some pods have different flavour profile with all machines (but even then, some are remarkably similar :) )

Some of the coffee lovers on here wouldn’t rate Lavazza coffee in itself due to its darker roast and use of Robusta beans. But I’m not a light-roast fanatic myself.
