Is this search working for anyone?

For me, the search results flash up, and then it moves on to a 'labs' screen immediately.

same for me - I've yet to see any meaningful results, even for records I've already found in the film viewer

I'd email them or contact on social media about it. Should be working for everyone now.

I had to enable the beta labs thing ages ago when it was in testing but now it's just there.

Found proof positive - a 1928 mortgage on it - that my mother's grandmother had a pub - something she, a non drinker, denies as being completely impossible, despite having already shown that further back in the family were all publicans!

Working for me now too. Looks like a very useful resource. Thanks OP (And the CLDS)

This is a fantastic resource. I’ve not yet had any outstanding ‘finds’, but have recorded lots of great corroborative evidence of family lore – e.g. an old note from my grandfather stated ‘Cousin X got into financial difficulties and was evicted’ has been now been backed-up by finding his initial purchase, later part sale and eventually a Memorial in which the Munster Bank and various of his assignees (a bankruptcy) are listed. I’ve also found several marriage settlements listing brides’ relatives, farms sizes, (even stock numbers and details), residency rights for unmarried sisters or parents, etc. One branch of the family is listed as tenants in the marriage settlement of the landlord of their holding, giving rent per acre, size of holding, lease details, etc.

In general, there is a learning curve on the legal-ese, I’ve found the OCR to be on the poor side of ‘Just OK’ but the AI summarization of the deeds generally is rubbish. I would like to be able to rank deeds by date order but haven’t yet managed that.

Certainly a great resource. Managed to find an earlier reference to my Kildare farming family than I had ever found in 20 years of research, now back to 1810. Mick Tator refers to date order not being available, but there is a filter by date which makes it quite easy to home in on the period you want.

Thanks, I was aware of that but it would be nicer to have a wider search period in date order. Alao, I'm still using Nick Reddan's site as he has deeds not found on the FS site

One great feature about the new FamilySearch site is that it finds names and places which never appeared in the Grantor or Townland indexes. e.g. there are no deeds where one of my ancestral families (tenant farmers) appear either as grantors or grantees, but there are quite a few where their name appears either as Witness or in the phrase - "land formerly in the occupation of XXXX of YYYY, farmer". So I would highly recommend searching for people for whom no other records exist in late 18th/early 19th c. But you need to be persistent - the Name Search is not AI assisted or based on phonetic spelling. You need to have exactly the right spelling, and be aware that the OCR often misreads capitals - e.g. if you are searching for the name Barry, you need to try Farry, Garry, Tarry etc.

I had just such a find yesterday.

I was trying to figure out why a man leasing 17 acres in Griffith's Valuation would appear to up sticks and move to a different ,granted larger, farm in the early 1860s. Was it two different families, in which case where did the first one disappear to and where did the second one appear from?

Found the answer in a 1920s list of registered owners in Ireland, when the son became the registered owner of both farms.

I found some of my ancestor in his official capacity as the Mayor of Limerick.
