Smart thermostat

    We are putting our heating system on 3 zones plus hot water. Plumber/electrician suggested an EPH digital control system but I'd like to have a system I can control remotely so a smart system. What have other people gone with? I've looked into EPH Ember and Nest. Anyone have any experience or could suggest something else? I'd rather not put smart trvs on all rads.

    In addition id like to...

    Set temperature in different zones and different rooms.

    Control heating from phone.

    Turn off whn gets to certain temp but control/change the temp.

    Heat water without having rads on.

    Set heat by time and temperature

    I use a hive system, two zones. I’ve a combi boiler so don’t need to have the water but I presume that can all be catered for with another zonal valve and a different thermostat.

    If you want a different temperature in different rooms then I don’t see how this could be done accurately without smart TRVs. EPH have an offering there as do Hive.


    If I was starting again I think I’d have the Hive smart TRVs. If I have the stat at the back of the house upstairs for example the front rooms are too warm, and the opposite the other way around. And the bathroom needs more heat than the other rooms. I know you can use traditional TRVs around the place which I have, but they aren’t particular sensitive.
