Express post letter put into post box on Saturday. Still not on system. Should I be worried?

It's a passport application, with an express post label. I put it into the post box on Saturday (near Aldi Tory Top).

The tracking number still hasn't shown up on the system on Tuesday. It should be in Dublin now.

I'm starting to get paranoid. Is that post box even serviced? Should I call anybody? The number for Togher sorting office on google just puts you through to the Dublin office.

I am number 65 in the webchat queue…

I have now realized that these post boxes around the suburbs would be great to rob in the middle of the night. You'd probably find some nice stuff in them if you drove around and fleeced them every night. I feel dumb putting it in there on a weekend and letting it sit there for two days.

    Calm down, number one.

If it was dropped in the mailbox on Sat, it was likely not collected till yesterday evening. Go back and check the post box you dropped it in, and check the stated times it is serviced.

I'm not sure where you'll get with trying An Post to find an item that isn't on their system, to be honest.

I believe that Express Post needs to be sent from post offices rather than standard post boxes.

An Post have had a melt down in Portlaoise. Weve posted items on the 6th and sone are still not scanned.

Rang a company that use them on a daily basis and they confirmed that the thing has been a complete mess for a few weeks with no end in sight or communication

This is right - even there were no issues in Portlaoise it could not arrive in Dublin before Tuesday morning.

As far as I know there is no collection on Saturday from any postbox in the city anymore. There used to be one from the GPO but I think that is gone since An Post closed the Cork sorting office.

Express post has to be scanned, unless you scanned it at an An Post parcel locker?

I saved down the application pack for one of my kids' passports back in 2021. The directions for the included ExpressPost label states to "post through a post box or over the counter…."

The sorting office in Togher is closed?

There's a delivery office in Togher but I don't think they sort outgoing mail. AFAIK it all goes to Portlaoise for sorting.
