I've a Kingspan Watchman and had some issues with the wifi module just not working on a cheap Huawei router. They say they don't support 4G routers; but what they basically mean is you need a decent quality one - replaced it with an ASUS and it works fine

This isn't an issue if you just use the in-home display, that doesn't use wifi at all; but I'm monitoring a remote property.

Just make sure it suits the tank you have, some have ports that it won't fit and others need to be drilled and may have huge warnings against drilling.

If you don't need to remotely monitor it, the the above type is best.

Don't go for the clock type that has a float on a string.

Just watched a YouTube video and saw them drilling. I think that would be a no no with a tank containing oil.

I've done it, but was rather concerned during the process…

How did you manage to stop the plastic shaving's from going into the oil?

The vast bulk of them I blew away before actually getting through the skin. Whatever was created by the final revolutions - I'm going to have to trust the fuel filter. Likely enough other crap on the bottom of a ~20 year old tank. The cut out plug stayed in the holesaw bit.

The tank age should be a concern, but it's inside a (otherwise unused) shed so has had zero UV degradation since installed; if I replace the tank rather than go to a newer tech I'll get one with an actual monitor port!

Keep near enough to filling point (not too near) to be able to reach in with a child's fishing net or similar. If net is too coarse, put a wet paper towel on it.

Be sure to seal the fitting.

This is the type of tank i have. Big spine running along the top. Any ideas what type of monitor would suit this tank.

Look on the top. Is there a place for a monitor? Maybe in front of the cap.
