75" Non-OLED TV - Suggestions?

    Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a large-screen 75" TV, upgrading from an 5-ish year old LG 55" LED Smart TV that I've been very happy with really… except that I wish I'd gone bigger pretty much from the start! I've wavered between 65 and 75 but think the latter is where I want to be.

I'm not too pushed on Smart TV/Apps functionality as I have an NVidia Shield Pro Android TV box that takes care of that - but I'm still not sold on OLED technology (burn-in/ghosting worries) so happy to stick with the various LED techs.

Saorview required of course but satellite input not essential (I've a different box for that) but nice if it has a proper Freesat implementation (as opposed to "Freesat compatible". My current LG is poor in this regard hence the seperate box).

Will primarily be used for 1080p/4K (HDR) TV and movies with some live sports (football/darts) in a moderately lit room or at night.

LG and Sony seem to be the frontrunners from what I've read, but it'll be getting a lot of hours so longevity and lack of issues will be key.

Budget 2k or less. Must deliver to the Republic and have the 6 year warranty.

    Thoughts?

Also been looking at the TCL 75c855k. How does that compare?

    Hey _Kaiser_

The 75C855 is a fantastic television and with being Mini LED produces an excellent image.
It is such great value for money.
They do have a sat input but are not FreeSat approved.

The equivalent LG would be the 75QNED91T6A which is FreeSat approved. Coming in at €2198 delivered.

    Let me know your thoughts.

I have a 55" C805 and am considering the 75" now for another room, how does the C855 compare to the C805?

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hey Royal With Cheese.

The C805 are excellent (As you know) but the C855 is a step up with the C855 using a QLED Pro panel to give better detail and a more accurate colours.
With QLED pro panels they provide up to 97% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut standard and HDR 3500 enhances this further with its incredible brightness.

    Thanks Kenny,

How does the TCL compare with the Sony X90LU here:

    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-207112-sony-xr75x90lu-6yr-75-inch-full-array-led-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-google-tv.aspx

I'm probably down to one of these two at this point but another question is around the feet on the Sony. I think these can be centre mounted rather than at the edges but the US model doesn't seem to have the slots for this. Can you confirm the one above does as these will be going on a stand rather than wall-mounted.

    Hey _Kaiser_.

I think the TCL will still be the better television as the Sony is still only LED even though it is full array.
The TCL is a Quantum Dot Mini LED.

The Sony has 3 settings for the feet.

    Thanks again Kenny.

One more question then. What's delivery costs/lead time like on the TCL if ordered later this week?

Also, do you offer an unboxing/installation service? These look too big to manage on my own 😊

  • Company Representative Posts: 4,747 ✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: DavidS

Thanks for getting back to us Kaiser,

Delivery is free of charge if you pay in euro or £6.99 if you pay in sterling and the lead time is 5-7 days from our central warehouse to you. We actually only have the TCL 75C855K available from the warehouse at the moment.

For installation - whereabouts are you based ad I can check if we have any trusted installers in your area?

    Kind regards

    David

I see you've just added a 10% discount on the TCL but the 805 is out of stock, do you know when you'd be getting more of these in?

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Royal With Cheese.

There were a few different promotions that we live today on televisions by several different manufacturers.

The TLC 10% is running until the 4th Feb and unfortunately the 75C805 will not be due back into stock until middle to end of Feb.
We are unable to take pre orders on these type of pre order if the stock will arrive after the promo finishes.

The 10% off is only on the sterling retail pricing.

Thanks, sorry one more question… I see you have 10% off on Samsung too, do you know is the QE77S85D you have for sale at £1999 before the discount a QD-OLED or W-OLED model?

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Royal With Cheese.

Unfortunately we have no way of knowing that and it would be just whatever was sent from our main warehouse.
As far as I'm aware the 77S85 uses the WOLED panel and this is most likely what you would receive.

Only the S95D seem to have the QD OLED panel.

    Hi guys,

So I'll be going with either the TCL C855 or the Sony Bravia 7 next week I think (both 75"). I've spent a LOT of time looking into this and have settled on these.. unless you'd suggest an alternative to the Sony at that price point?

I live in the midlands (Laois) but it'll be stand mounted rather than on a wall, so I'll figure it out I suppose.

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hey Kaiser.

Both are great TV's and you will be very happy with either.

Although with the new promo on the TCL of 10% off dropping it down to £1529.10 make it hard to pass up.
(Promo is only on the sterling retail).

The Sony has also currently ran out of stock and we are awaiting the ETA for more to arrive.

    Morning guys,

So I was planning to pull the trigger on the Bravia 7 today but discovered the price has gone up significantly in the past few days - now 2799 EUR

However, I've found it below for less.. 2498 EUR

A Google search shows it cheaper than your current price elsewhere as well.

Have we any options here, or are there any promotions expected in the near future?

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Kaiser.

Yeah, unfortunately there as been a lot of price changes as our sale is coming to an end.

I can offer to beat the NorthXSouth price and offer the 75XR70 to you for €2478 delivered and including our VIP 6year guarantee free of charge.

There are no other Sony promotion due that I'm aware of.

    Morning Kenny,

Hope you had a good weekend!

JUst wanted to check on that ETA so that I can make sure I'm here to receive that day. Cheers!

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hey Kaiser.

It is just getting collected from the store today by the courier and I'll be able to check with them tomorrow and confirm the day it will be with you.
I'll be in touch tomorrow as soon as I speak with the courier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 29,612 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

OK perfect.. so unlikely then to be tomorrow(?) but possibly Thursday or Friday?

  • Company Representative Posts: 17,968 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hey Kaiser.

Yeah, I don't think it will be tomorrow as it will most likely still be in transit to the correct depot.
Once I get confirmation in the morning I will be straight in touch.
