Well lads, just a quick question please. When a Garda comes to check a safe for a new application, can I use a built in lockbox in the safe for ammunition storage, or do I need to have a seperate lock box somewhere else in the house ? TIA.

Once it's a separate lockable place it's ok afaik. So your built in ammo box is fine.

It doesn't have to be bolted down either if you're using a separate container. I use a locked toolbox for shotgun cartridge boxes

Get a small safe for ammo/bolts, etc, not that expensive and some are far cheaper than this.

Most of the bigger/better Irish hardware shops do something similar and probably cheaper.

Ammo safe don't need to be bolted in place but most come with bottom & back holes should you wish to bolt down same.

Surplus army ammo box with a U bolt thru the opening lever and padlock.Works well for about 30 quid.

You can have just lockable box inside the safe but for few euro you can get small "hotel" type safe and fit it with 2 screws.

This is what I have done.
