Do you have copies of the MRI? Ask your GP if they have anyone to refer you to and mention you'll take private. If the GP doesn't have someone in mind they'll be quickly able to find someone through their contacts

I hung from a bar a few times a day for a week and mine disappeared.

I'm not a doctor or in any way an expert, But when I was about 25, from playing football, I got a partially prolapsed disc, which caused me to have terrible sciatica. It lasted for about two months and showed no signs of getting better until I started using an exercise bike, very gradually at first, but every day increasing a little bit. The sciatica began to improve, the numbness down my legs stopped and in about another two months it had disappeared.

Occasionally thereafter, I would get a bit of a twinge, or an ache in my lower back and I just resumed using the exercise bike and it fixed it in a couple of days.

Not promoting it as a cure, but it certainly worked for me.
