    Folks,

Has anyone managed to figured out to stop Win 11 from restarting automatically. Ive disabled updates, disabled installs and have made registry amendments to disable it there too. It is driving me absolutely insane.

Needless to say, don't update, its an absolute piece of sh1t

With win10 going EOL soon, we wont have many options …. move to other OS ….

Is it DIY build or by big bros like dell/lenovo/other? home or pro
Can you see in the logs what initialize the restart/shutdown? ID1074 if not mistaking
is there particular time pattern? Have you set your "active hours"?

You can go down the rabbit hole here , but my understanding is that unless its Windows Enterprise these settings may get changed by future updates.

A stupid way might be to install windows server evaluation and extend the trial license by 180 days a few times before it expires and reboots hourly. You might get a year's uptime followed by gone forever.

However since windows server doesn't require TPM and newer processors it get used a lot more on older machines when Windows 10 hits end of life. So Microsoft may start restricting it.

When you say auto-reboot, is it because of Windows Updates, or auto-rebooting when it blue screens?

If the former, the guys above have it covered really. If the latter, it's under Settings>System>About>Advanced System Settings

In the window that appears, click Start-up and Recovery and uncheck "Automatically Restart" halfway down. Also worth making sure both "Time to display…" options ARE checked above it.

Not sure why this option isn't disabled by default but it's been the same for numerous versions of Windows. By having it enabled it makes it impossible to read the (admittedly often useless!) error details when it does fall over.

The first thing I’d do is check the System log in Event Viewer for events logged around the time of the reboot. What you’re looking for is entries from User32 or BugCheck. User32 entries might show the process and/or reason for the reboot. BugCheck entries would show that the system blue-screened, which would put you in the area of BSOD troubleshooting, as mentioned by Kaiser above.
