Help with bath plug

    Hi,

Moved house and the bath doesn't have a plug. I think this used to be a pop-up plug but it's missing the pop-up shaft mechanism thing. The plug itself is still there and does an ok job of blocking the water, but want to replace it properly.

I had a look online to see if I could find matching pop-up plug sizes, but it's definitely not the normal pop-up type. I know, because I bought one to check!

Can anyone help me identify what's needed here? I was able to remove the white collar thing, but not sure if I can remove the silver collar left in the drain?

After removing the white plastic tube, the hole left is 43mm (1.69")

    Thanks,
    Cap

You really need to get underneath the bath and replace the whole fitting. pull off the bath side panel and take a pic.

can be an awful job depending on the pipework, but definitely check first

The side of the bath is tiled and joined to the wall and floor tiles unfortunately. Does not look easy to get in there. Guess I'll just have to stick to using the plug as is!

    what is the 3rd pic?

If you tape over the ope in the item in the first picture and shove it bath does it plug the bath

Is there much effort in pulling out the white thing?

Could you get a friendly woodworker to turn you a tapered plug on lathe

    Hi,

Ended up buying a "Bathtub Plug Replacement,Drain Stopper for Shower,Pop Up Drain Stopper for Bathroom,36-50mm" from Am**n.co.uk. Pulled out the white plastic tube and the stopper fit in perfectly with the default rubber washer that came with it. Makes a perfect seal and looks great! Hopefully it lasts but was a steal at €12 and has saved a lot of effort!
