I've had Blink cameras in the gaff for nearly 5 years now. No issue. App works well and clips are saved in the cloud, no subscription.

The garage got broken into a while back so I installed a deadbolt and bought 2 blink wired cameras on what happened to be Black Friday weekend. Good deal. FF to last week and the free subscription of cloud storage for these 2 new cameras has expired. Turning them into glorified motion sensors. The app will tell me when they are triggered but no store any footage. Weak sauce.

I looked it up and there is a way to save data locally. the catch is that I need to shell out another $20 for a Blink hub 2.0 or better. They have a little USB slot. So off I go to search for one. I think I've got it. Nice little kit with a handy wall mount, cable and 256 GB USB included. Great say I. Off to check out.

FF to today and I get an email about it being out for delivery. And that's when I noticed. Even though the hub was clearly pictured, it's not part of the kit! Ragin'. I've to fork over an extra $50 for the actual hub. Jaysus. You really need to read and reread these Amazon ads. I just hope it all works to plan now.

I just looked it up and it's $10/month for unlimited cameras. So $120/year. So really, paying the extra $70 to store local with pay for itself in less than a year.
