Ultra wide for office use

Can someone recommend me a 34" 21:9 curved monitor in white for office use. Happy to spend for something decent but obivously high refresh rate etc. not vital. Aesthetics just as important as functionality here.

Been checking around Amazon for a while and not a great selection. Am I at the wrong time of the year for monitors?

    1000 for a monitor!

Budget would not be an issue here and as I said aesthetics are key. Having the Thunderbolt dock merged into the monitor is ideal for office use as well as ticking that box. Purely an option. Have others but I suspect this will be the winner.

If your in that budget range, there are a few 40" 5k2k ultra wide monitors that could be worth considering if you have the space, and the if the extra screen size and resolution is of any benefit

Space not an issue but 40" could be just visually unappealling. But please do throw them out.

Don't forget, I need a Thunderbolt Dock as well which the Dell monitor has. As well as a ton of other very useful productivity features. It's expensive but it's got a ton of toys.

Yes, that became the option. Deep pockets involved here even if it's a business expense. This is really something you'd usually have if a company paid for it or provided it and priced accordingly.

I think LG and Lenovo amongst others have similar size / resolution models. I've been on 34" UW for 5-6 years in the home office, and would love to upgrade, but the value proposition just isnt there for me given the current setup

Totally agree. Buyer went with the 40" model. Again, value not a factor here but it's a top tier office monitor without doubt. Personally, I couldn't justify it. My triple monitor/thunderbolt dock works perfectly and is a third of the price. As you say, let it fall a bit more but I suspect the market for them will remain in the premuim level for some time yet.

I used this recently, looking to purchase it or similar one, but would like to find a discounted one 38-40 inches. Finding 34 doesn't truly allow for split screen, and 49 the next batch up seems to be crazy wide for a working desk

"USB Type-C connection, allowing you to power your devices (up to 65W)"

That's from the link so depends if your laptop will be ok with 65W?

I would warn, ultrawide is not great for office use. You will miss that vertical real estate , it's hard to share screen with anybody because of the awkward resolution, and they're overpriced for a 2k res. I'd generally take a cheap 4K screen over it for work. Cheap because it doesn't make a difference for office use.

I have an ultrawide 3440x1440p and it's a great screen for work don't get me wrong, just that it's not in my opinion the best.

Does splitting the screen in two not solve a lot of those issues?

If find the ultra wide great for work, but when sharing screens I just change the resolution to 1920 x 1080. Tbh, if your sharing a 4k screen and other people on the call are on a laptop, if would very hard for them to read any text anyway!

I use a 32:9 1000R curved for work, I would not go back to standard ratios or split multiples if I could avoid it now. I used to use 3rd party software to manage my screen layout but the integrated tools in Win11 are more than enough for general use and then Power-Tools/Fancy Zones can be used for more complex layouts. Sharing is a breeze as you just select the App instead of the entire screen.

Good call on Fancy Zones. Had Power Toys already on my system for other bits but never tried this. Once setup it's a doddle to use as well. Owe you one.

There's loads of really cheaply priced screens on that site, intrigued now!

    Are they reputable?

Anyone used any of the cheaper screens on the site?

I'm pretty sure Paradigit was komplett so they are a long term well known seller who I believe are still reputable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 559 ✭✭✭Coyler

From what I understand Komplett sold it's Western European arm to Paradigit, a Dutch company. Perfectly legit but focus seems to be pre-builts, laptops and monitors.
