Fine Gael have been in government since 2011. Are they “Marxists” now too? You’re firing at parties that haven’t been anywhere near power in this county in decades, if ever.

The immigration system in Ireland needs to be improved asap. Increased processing speed and quicker deportations are the answer. You have Fine Gael to blame for the current mess. No some imaginary Marxists.

    they/them/theirs

The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all of the people.

@enricoh none of your links work so I have deleted your post. Can we please ensure that if links are being posted they are a) relevant to the topic of Irish immigration and b) actual working links.

    Thanks.

Oh right. You are just confused. Sweden is socially liberal to a point but it was never Libertarian, they have one Libertarian who no one votes for.

Traditionally they would have been about as socially liberal as England, another monarchy.

Unlike England they have collective defence and partial conscription, hardly the values of a socially liberal society and certainly not a Libertarian one.

Anyway this thread is supposed to be about Ireland, I seem to be reading more about Germany, Sweden, Poland, etc.

15-20 years ago, any attempt to discuss the potential negative impacts of multiculturalism and mass immigration in this very forum typically resulted in immediate attempts to get the thread closed, the usual labels assigned to the "offender" etc.

On the odd occassion such attempts failed to result in an immediate thread closure, the label assigners very often put forward Sweden as an example of multiculturalism done right.

Then when uncomfortable statistics about Sweden were presented as a counter argument, the frantic attempts to get the thread shut down and the offender banned resumed in earnest.

On the very rare occassions that this also failed in the face of official statistics, the thought guardians defaulted to their "Ireland will be different" stance

Anyone who is around this place long enough knows theres Nodinying any of that

It has. It was originally created to discuss Quake. It was created in the 1990's.

    I'm a member since 2003. 22 Years. 😂 I know boards existed then.

    That wasn't the claim.

The claim still exists without any evidence.

You should be more precise with your words. CA might not have existed but the site did and the immigrant-bashing would have taken place in After Hours or another part of the site.

I am always careful to be precise with my words.

Maybe you should be careful when reading them.

No, you weren't. The snarky comments don't change that.

If you want a discussion on pedantics, find someone else.

You were wrong, you were snarky and now you are a throwing a strop.

Which adds absolutely nothing to the rather meaty claim I responded to.

So we will have to it leave there.

You said forum. Boards.ie is a forum. Is it really your whole argument that current affairs didn’t exist? That’s a very weak argument and doesn’t address any of the points raised by @Freneys Treasure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,586 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

They haven't offered any evidence for any points they raised.

I did search for threads that might fit the criteria site wide but I couldn't find any, now that could be the state of the site since the transfer.

Your argument has gone from “this forum didn’t exist 15-20 years ago” to “you have no evidence of threads from 15-20 years ago”. No one saves threads from that long ago BTW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,586 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

This "very forum" didn't exist 15-20 years ago, that is a fact.

This is an offshoot of Political Café Forum which was an offshoot of the Politics Forum. As far as I remember.

So maybe they mean the Politics forum, which would require a higher standard of posting then both.

Either way unless they clarify what they mean and give evidence for the claims, discussing them is impossible. Wouldn't you agree? So I don't really see how you have an issue with me.

No one saves threads from that long ago BTW

    What do you mean?

    Irish marxists?

Who do you think has been in charge of Ireland for the last 30 years that has overseen this vast population change?

I really hope there aren't too many people in here that are voting FF/FG and complaining about the way our borders have been and continue to be run.

Channel 4 have a social experiment reality show where Brits are going to live where IPAs are fleeing from

Go Back to Where You Came From begins Monday 3rd February at 9pm on Channel 4

Maybe the pro entry for all to Ireland, will sign up for an Irish version, if RTE would fund, an NGO could sponsor

He is referencing Sweden's pre school child care.

Irish politicians across the spectrum frequently do when the issue is raised.

What they won't tell you is consistently since the war Sweden have some of the highest income tax level in the world in order to pay for such things.

    Again hardly "Libertarian"

Maybe Jim O Callaghan might be a able to give us the figures on how many people who had deportation orders served on them have actually left the country.

All we got from his predecessor was "I don't have those figures ".

A protest was held on Saturday at the Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort, Co Kildare, against the proposed use of apartments there to accommodate international protection applicants.

The hotel, with a stone Celtic Cross to its rear, is about 5km east of Enfield in the rural parish of Balyna, just off the M4.

The apartments are adjacent to the hotel in two-storey blocks of four, with a further eight apartments alongside.

The main concerns of the Moyvalley Concerned Locals protest group, according to Mr Malone, are that the remaining people living in the apartments will be evicted and that local jobs and amenities at the hotel will be lost.

“If the IPAS (International Protection Accommodation Service) centre is implemented ... people will .. not use the hotel and golf club, that’s what we believe,” said Mr Malone.

Also at the protest were a couple in their early 30s and who have lived in one of the apartments at the hotel for more than two years but did not wish to be named.

They said that at the end of November they were served with a six-month eviction notice by email by a representative of the expected new owner of the hotel.

“We would like to be allowed to stay; we have looked locally, but there is nothing available that is affordable, we just want a place to live nearby for work,” the young man, a teacher in the local area, said.

This blight just gets worse, it's absolute sickening that this is still happening.

Imagine the knock on affect of all this to the local area, the poor locals just have no say and been forced to accept this and it's not fair.

Imagine making Irish people homeless by kicking them out and bringing in the IPAS, this is what this country is coming to

Imagine booking a nice hotel for your wedding, a lovely venue and grounds to then find part if it has been taken over as an ipas centre. This madness has to stop, the policy is killing the country.
