Changed from Normende to TCL TV and now picture heavily pixilated

Hi all…hoping you can help. I had a perfectly solid picture with my Normende TV and I simply switched TV, tuned it, got all the 427 channels, but the result is distorted sound and pixilated picture.

I checked all connections, tightened them, I also switched the wiring from my downstairs TV to be sure I had not damaged any wiring.

Now…I wonder is TCL just more sensitive? My set up involves a single coaxial cable heading into a splitter and then 2 connections into the TV.

The antenna signal is fine, only issue with the satellite.

Here is a pic of the splitter.

What would you recommend I try next? I really do not want to venture onto the roof.

Could I try adding a single adaptor to lengthen the cable enough to run it straight into the TV for satellite only and no splitter?

Or what about in indoor booster? What one?

I assume you just have a single LNB on the dish?

Best job is to get a quad LNB for multiple feeds from the dish.

Did you try running one cable into the splitter and one cable out of the splitter? Would this not just act as a cable extension? Does the picture improve?

Can you run the cable direct to the satellite input on the TV to test the feed separated from the splitter, check a couple of the transponders for strength/quality.

    Faulty splitters can cause issues.

Thanks. Yeah i think single LNB.

I was thinking of trying without the splitter, I just need to get an adaptor to extend it. It isn't long enough coming out of the wall. It is very frustrating when just changing the TV has this impact.

Would it be possible that my settings on the channel tune could be wrong? I would have assumed that I picked up channels that that end of things must be ok.

Anything to be said for an indoor amplifer? or perhaps a splitter that has an amplifier

As you have only changed the TV, I suggest the issue is there (you could try going back to the Nordmende to double check).

I find that Saorview (aerial) signals are weaker than Satellite (dish), so if you are confident that the line from the dish to the TV is fine, then I'd assume the TCL is LESS sensitive to signal than the Nordemende.

If the problem exists across multiple channels, the dish & LNB may need to be realigned slightly.

Sometimes TV or satellite boxes have a visual indication of signal strength, which may be of use if you don't have a satellite finder.

The Revez splitters are usually fine for reliability.

thanks all for your thoughts. I have tried the direct line in without the spitter. no change. Then i switched back to Normende. Works perfect! So frustraing. I really cannot afford to get someone out to look at this.

I am left with 2 options. return the TV. Or a cheap external tuner sat box? until I can afford to get someone out? Any tuners you recommend that could get the channels clearly?

What is the model of the TCL TV? Where did you buy it? And I take it you are using a diplexor both aerial in and sat then switch at box end.

On the sat connection did you look closely at connection and see if any bit of cable leftover, you may need a magnifying glass. Can you not use the normende while you get new TV sorted?
