Searching for an Irish maths teacher to observe how it is taught abroad

    Hello everyone,
First of all I wish you a happy new year 2025

Let me introduce myself: I'm a mathematics teacher at the Lycée (educational institution for students typically aged between 15 and 18) in France. We have an Erasmus agreement which gives me the opportunity to travel in EU countries. I'd like to take advantage of this to shadow a colleague, ideally a math teacher in Ireland, to observe and compare our practices.

Specifically, my request is as follows: do you know of anyone who would be willing to welcome me to their school to observe them, and who would be interested in discussing their teaching practices? I'll be self-sufficient in terms of accommodation. I'm aiming for one week in June 2025.

Also, if you're a Francophile and interested, I'd be delighted to welcome you back to France, even if it's just for a sightseeing visit. I live in a very pretty region by the sea ;)

I'm posting my request here because I saw that this was an exchange forum where teachers were involved. If you have any ideas of people or associations to whom I could send my request, I'd be grateful.

    A pleasant evening to all

Not a teacher, so can't help, but thought I might point out that in Ireland, secondary schools (for students aged 12-17/18) finish the school year at the end of May. There won't be any classes in June when you propose travelling here.

There are a few teachers on boards alright, but you might have more good luck on the reddit r/Irish Teachers forum to widen your search.

Also if it's adolescent teaching your interested in, the teaching year runs from September - May and state exams begin in June so you won't be able to do any observation in that month. I would say May or September might be the best time.

Thank you very much for your answers NiceFella and Gipi. I think I will have to change my dates ;)

I'll also try on reddit, my first aim would be to be to find a teacher interested in the idea… so if any teacher reads this post…
