Hey guys, thinking of bringing a gr corolla back from north America on my return home. I know I can get vrt exemt if I meet certain criteria but I'm wondering is it customs except too as I'm returning to my home country with used goods (kinda like why they let ya away with vrt)

Second when the required time passes I intend to resell to the European market being the cars lhd. Anyone have any idea on whether a buyer in Europe has to pay vrt again and if they do I assume it wouldn't be as much as if they wanted to import direct from the US.

Anyone have an idea on resale value? The yaris is gone through the roof id have 2 gr corollas bought here for the proce of one yaris in ireland

Not sure anybody would want a left hand drive GR Corolla. I'd say you'd have to sell it in Europe to make any money on that. Not sure how much of a ballache that would be. I wouldn't fancy it

If you want to know resale value look at one of the German sites ..

I read your post but whatever. My point stands, I wouldnt think even in the mainland there would be much on an interest in a US Spec Corolla. But since your being snarky I'll exit this thread.

Id have thought that LHD wouldn't matter to someone who wanted to use it for competition.

So looking on Auto trader in the US, you will be paying about $40,000 dollars for a standard GR Corolla.

I’m seeing standard GR Corollas on Autoscout in Europe for less than €40,000 which is the same price as the US.

There is a brand new GR Circuit Edition for €75,000 in Europe if thats the one your talking about but theres none of them available in the US to compare.

Even still, if theres no price difference in the standard GR Corolla I don’t see why there would be a price difference for a Circuit Edition

You also have to pay for shipping to the US Port, shipping to Ireland, shipping to Europe. So that will cost about €5,000 I’d say.

Then you’ll have to suffer 12 months depreciation. So that brand new €75,000 car being sold by a Toyota main dealer in mainland Europe will probably only be worth €60,000 when you come to sell since you are a private seller with a 1 year old car, in a foreign jurisdiction.

So get the price of a GR Corolla Circuit Edition and come back to us

And to answer your question, yes you’ll be exempt from customs, and yes the country you import the car to will have to pay VRT.
