CAO science course decision

hi everyone I am a 6th year student that is extremely stuck on what to pick for my cao.

Growing up or throughout secondary school I never really had a dream future career or course. Although since first year I have loved home ec and i picked biology as a LC subject and I love that too. That’s why I started to look at biology/human nutrition/ food science courses but I realised that it’s quite hard to just do biology on its own as in most courses there’s some chemistry maths and physics too ( maths isn’t my strong point but idm it)

So I talked to my guidance councillor, emailed lecturers and talked to students in similar courses and they have said that they find the chemistry and physics difficult having not done it prior - some even dropping out of the course. All the courses I’ve looked at only require one lab science subject but say that it’s advantage to have 2 - why don’t they just make it a requirement ?

Anyway I’ve kinda been doubting myself - not sure if science is even the route for me since the only background I have in it is a strong interest and foundation in LC biology but ik if I didn’t pick this route and went with an easier way I would be disappointed in myself

Also I’ve thought about careers but I can only identify what I don’t want and don’t like. I don’t want a mundane 9-5 5 day a week job on an industrial site or even in a lab. I like being in a lab but don’t want it as my whole life career. I would prefer to be my own boss with flexible hours, even in a clinical setting so I started looking into SLT AND OT and ways into physiotherapy but still unsure

sorry about the long post but I’ve narrowed it down to Biological sciences in MTU ( career choices are very vague and very industrial) biological and chemical sciences UCC ( sounds v hard) genetics ucc and science education UCC ( I would pick the biology and chemistry route but not sure how hard it would be to learn Chem from start but also to teach it) not willing to study outside of cork . If anyone is in the same boat or has any advice on these courses or what I should do/pick pls lmk

Any help would be so appreciated I am rlly struggling thank u
